He received a gunshot
wound to the head on 7 August 1915 from action at Walker's Ridge.
He was taken to the New Zealand Army Hospital, Anzac, where he died of
wounds on 10 August 1915. He had previously served as a Lieutenant
in the Boer War, receiving the Queen's Medal with five bars. He
left a wife and seven children. |
