Lance Corporal J Mapp 536 attested
that he knew Eviston. He was a young man with very fair hair and
was known as "snowy". He was a quiet fellow but was fond of
boxing. He was with the 2nd Light Horse Bridge Train. He was
struck by a shell while in a dug-out at a place called B Depot on Anzac.
His leg was blown off and he was taken to the 6th F.A. This was in
November. Mapp was present and actually saw the occurrence.
Eviston died the same day at the F.A. Mapp saw his funeral ;
Eviston was buried at a place called Casualty Point. He had only
arrived at B Depot 2 or 3 days previously.
