General |
"Dick Kinsella was a mate of
mine. We were at Liverpool together, and he was in my platoon.
On Friday 27 August last at 5 p.m. we left to charge Hill 60. He
was about 9 chaps from me, and when we got to the Turks' trenches 25
yards off, we were all mixed up. Two of us got into the trenches.
There were 16 in all of our party, and only two of us got back to our
lines. Kinsella was missing and we could never find out
anything more about him. He was a regular character at the
Liverpool camp, but afterwards in Egypt completely changed and became
very quiet. I have often noticed this characteristic among the
men."
